When you add two people to a session or event, the system automatically creates a billable item for each individual. This behavior supports group sessions, where each participant may be billed separately.
Because the system does not assume who is financially responsible, each participant added to the session generates their own invoice item by default.
What if only one person in the couple should be billed?
If only one person should pay for the session, there are a few ways to handle this, depending on how you want to manage billing and notes.
Option 1: Create a single client that represents both individuals
You can create one client profile that represents the couple and schedule sessions using that client only. This results in one invoice.
Important considerations:
Session notes will be combined into a single client record.
You will not have separate notes or records for each individual.
This option works best if you do not need individual documentation.
Option 2: Use a couple client in addition to individual clients
You can create:
Individual client profiles for each person, and
A separate client profile that represents the couple
Add all three clients to the session, but mark the individual clients’ attendance as non-billable and mark the attendance as billable for the couples client. Create an invoice only for the couples client.
Important considerations:
The system will still create uninvoiced non-billable items for each individual.
Notes can be documented separately for each individual and for the couple.
This option allows more flexibility for documentation.
