Creating a new service has a number of layers that serve different purposes, you will notice:
1. Title
2. Category
3. Discipline
4. Compensation Tier
5. Description
Title - Each service has a title. The Title of the service needs to be descriptive, as it will show up on, client email reminders displayed on your website (if you add services for display) and invoices.
Category - Think of this as grouping your services into buckets. It allows for backend data collection to be able to pull reports in the future. For example to get statistics on all activity/time spent on assessment or treatment. Or your category could be based on different departments within your organization. There is no one right way to categorize your services and you can always go back and change them later. For a solo practitioner, you might decided to have one category for all services.
Discipline - Each Category can be tagged with one or more disciplines. For clinics with multiple disciplines, this will create a shorter list of service items to choose from when practitioners are creating a client event. You may recognize this list of disciplines from the same list of disciplines available in the practitioner profile/account settings modal.

Compensation Tier - To further categorize services, you may have services that are only used by certain practitioners within your clinic. For example, senior level therapist may have access to additional service types that junior level therapist are not. Or you may have a group of therapist that offer specialized services and you want to add additional services to their list above what other therapist of that same discipline have access to. You will notice that compensation tier is also an option on the practitioner profile/account settings modal.

Description - If you have enabled services to be viewed on your practice website, they will be accompanied with the description listed here.
It is helpful to answer a few questions to help you determine how to set up your services:
- Do I want to pull reports on time spent on different activities within my clinic?
- Is it just me or is there a team?
- For my team members - do I want them to be able to select from all services or a short list?
- Will my services be displayed on my practice webpage?
Examples of how to use Categories
You can further specific the category by assigning it to a specific discipline. This way, this category will only show for the for that discipline in the dropdown menu when creating a client event.
Sculpt the categories based on your practice needs and processes.
